Speech Langage Therapists - Pediatric Ward - Sebran's ABC

Sebran's ABC is a 12 pieces educational software for prescoolers and early scoolers.

Came accros this program by accident surfing the Net, tryed it on our children with special needs, and realized that this is a exceptionaly rare piece of software suitable for such children!
It's free, as well!
Absolute rarity! Either in Croatina or in the World.

Under "rarity" I don't consider the fact that it's free of cost, but the fact that is so suitable for children with special needs. Games that such children and we need should:

• not have many visual details
• not handle many different colours at the same time
• tasks should be simple and clear
• children should have enough time to deal with tasks, no time limits
• and the games should have certain charm, "vibe", kids should love them

I have noticed all of that in Sebran's ABC package, and beside that proggie is surprisingly small, only 610 KB !!! Way to go Marianne Wartoft! (Author)

Software looks like a piece designed by someone who's familiar with problems of children with special needs!

When I found it, only 3 games of 12 were applicable, due to langage barrier. Proggie could be used in few different langages, but not in Croatian at the time.

I have contacted Mrs. Marianne Wartoft, and offered translation of Sebran in Croatian.. Courtesy of the author, the Croatian version showed up in a very short time. Author's persistence wasn't disturbed even by the fact that she did it around Christmas time, so just around Christmas, we on Pediatric ward got the Croatian version of Sebran!
I thank the author, Marianne Wartoft sincerely in the name of all children that benefit of Sebran, and in my own name too.

Sebran is used here as a standard tool for over a year now. Children like to use it very much, and it showed its usefulness on few levels, particularly with children who have difficulties in phonological sensitivity, problems with phonological sequencing, difficulties with phonological synthesis and analysis.

Specificity of program is in the relative universality of implementation, due to child's problems. OK, it's not applicable on all of the children, but in practical, everyday work we noticed its universality. We just reach for it every day.

Sebran gives a resourceful speech language therapist an opportunity to approach the child with problems, and help him/her improve his/her skills through one motivating game.
